The east coast of the United States is being hit by the remains of Tropical Storm Nicole, which has begun to break up after causing flooding within the Caribbean and the recent Jamaica mudslides. The South is already feeling the effects. North Carolina floods have already begun. NC has a state of emergency declared by the Governor. There’s a flooding advisory for each and every state from Carolina to Maine. Tornado advisories are in effect from Virginia to Maryland. So far, this is the worst of the effects of the 2010 hurricane time of year for the mainland United States of America.
Carolina floods
A state of emergency has been declared on North Carolina. As the governor of NC, reports CNN, Beverly Purdue has the right to do this. Jamaica and Cuba have finished observing Tropical Storm Nicole that is now hitting the U.S. coast. Mudslides in Jamaica killed two people after being cause by the storm. Flooding began following the state got more than a foot of rain in just three days time. By October 2, another 8 inches of rain is expected to fall and hit the East Coast. Wilmington, North Carolina, has already had 15 inches of rain fall. It is almost impossible to use any roads there.
Being concerned about observing tornadoes
Tropical Storm Nicole will likely start a tornado on the East Cost somewhere. New Jersey has started a twister watch. Apparently everywhere from Carolina to Maryland is monitoring and hoping nothing happens. There is a tornado warning and a flash flood warning in effect for Washington D.C. also, as outlined by ABC. There is also some anxiety that New York flooding may cause the subway system of New York City to become flooded.
Time of year continuing nevertheless
The hurricane time of year for 2010 won’t be ending soon. It goes all the way until the end of November still. This year, the United States of America isn’t getting it too hard actually. Most years before have been worse than this. the country was afraid for Hurricane Igor and Hurricane Earl to hit. They ended up having just a little rain and being pretty mild. By the time Sunday night has passed, Tropical Storm Nicole can be gone.
